2013 - 8th Annual Organic Okanagan Festival
Sunday September 29, 2013 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Summerhill Pyramid Winery, 4870 Chute Lake Road, Kelowna
The theme for the 2013 Organic Okanagan Festival is “Taste Organic!” Once again we have aligned the OOF date with National Organic Week in Canada and Summerhill proprietor Stephen Cipes is inviting special guest chefs to offer more Okanagan organic food than ever before! In 2012 Canada’s organic market grew to $3.7 billion, with 58% of all Canadians buying organic products every week. In BC two thirds of consumers are buying organic groceries weekly; so let’s highlight even more organic awareness at this year's festival!

IN THE MUSIC TENT:
12:00 – Carolyn Anele

1:00 PM – Ananda Dance
Ananda Dance is performed by - Melanie Piorecky, Jenny Rae Walters, Dawn Sharman and Marie Articus. The dance is based in the classical Indian form of Bharata natyam ~ the fire-dance ~ the mystic manifestation of the metaphysical element of fire in the human body. The movements of an authentic Bharata natyam dancer resemble the movements of a dancing flame. The dances they will perform are a combination of pure dance and expressive dances with storytelling.
2:00 PM - Raging Grannies
Raging Grannies are caring older women who use song to protest and raise awareness of the issues of Peace, the environment and social justice. Satirical and serious, they are politically conscious but non-partisan.
3:00 PM – Ginger & Rose
Like a fine red wine and a plate of stinky cheese, or that perfect cup of coffee with just the right amount of cream the pairing of Ginger & Rose is lovingly prepared musical fare. Comprised of singer songwriters Jayme Mc Killop and Lowell Friesen, Ginger & Rose contrast and complement each other like any great pairing, bringing their diverse styles into the kitchen and cooking up a unique and soulful musical banquet. Together they blend the lovelorn with the hopeful, simmering the joy and the tragedy of life while celebrating the multiplicities of experience in song. The combination is a 5 star, 6 course gourmet banquet of rootsy riffs and thought provoking poetry.
